Who is the Steel City Chapter?

The Steel City Chapter of the Railroad & Locomotive Historical Society was formed in 2017 by a small group of railroad enthusiasts, current and former railroad employees. This chapter serves Greater Pittsburgh and its surrounding areas as the premier flagship chapter in western Pennsylvania.

Our Mission:

Our Goal:

Is to preserve western Pennsylvania's rich railroad heritage for current and future generations to learn about.

We aim to commemorate and celebrate the history of the Pittsburgh region, with a focus on railroads as well as the industries and communities they served.  This can be achieved in many ways, including:

  • Archiving of documents, photography and spoken word

  • Educational presentations

  • Models and other recreations

  • Acquisition and preservation of tools and equipment

How Can You Help?

Memberships and donations go a long way in our effort.  Whether its helping acquires historic items for our library, maintaining a presence at local trade shows, or just keeping the lights on, every dollar goes a long way.  You are invited to attend a monthly meeting and learn more!
